Abstract

The indiscriminate consumption patterns across the world, including India, have led to severe issues such as pollution and global warming, highlighting the need for greater awareness and consumption of green products. The primary goal of this study was to evaluate how awareness of green products influences the green purchase intentions of university students in India. Specifically, the study aimed to determine whether awareness, price, availability, value, and quality influence students’ intentions to buy green products and to assess how these factors predict their purchasing behavior. Data from an online survey of 350 university students were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings revealed that awareness, price and availability of the green product have a significant relationship with green perceived value. Green perceived value has the significant relationship with perceived qulity of green product and finally perceived quality significantly impact the purchase intension of university students. This study is among the first to conclude that in the Indian context, students' awareness of green products significantly affects their purchase intentions, primarily driven by price, availability, information, value, and exceptional quality. The study's implications, limitations, and directions for future research are also discussed.
